Equality and diversity

Skills & Learning sits within Poole Borough Council and delivers learning and training on behalf of Bournemouth Borough Council, Dorset County Council and the Borough of Poole. Skills & Learning applies the Borough of Poole’s Fairness for All policy,  outlining the commitment to promoting equality and celebrating diversity, to its work across Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole.

Fairness for All Policy

Our ‘Fairness for All’ commitment covers promoting equality and respecting diversity on the grounds of:

  • Age
  • Disability
  • Gender reassignment
  • Marriage and civil partnership
  • Pregnancy and maternity
  • Religion or belief
  • Race
  • Sex
  • Sexual orientation

We have also published information about how we meet our Public Sector Equality Duties in the Equality Act.  You can see this by following this link.

We also recognise that people on very low incomes or that live in relative poverty may also experience inequality and reduced life chances.  Other groups also need additional support to achieve their aspirations. In line with government priorities, Skills & Learning targets public funding with disadvantaged individuals and groups to improve their life chances.
