Who is eligible for the courses?
You need to be aged 19 and over. You also need to be a permanent resident in the UK, for a minimum of 3 years.
What is expected of me?
Everyone who takes part in the Living Well research project will need to attend a 1:1 appointment with one of our Wellbeing Advisers, complete a mental health assessment during the appointment, at the beginning, middle and end of the course. You will also need to give consent to share this data with an external evaluator, as part of the research. We also expect you to be able to attend all of the classes in your course.
Do I need to be referred to access the courses?
No, you don’t have to be referred.
You can call in and book yourself an appointment – 01202 262300.
My adviser has offered me a course, can I have more than one?
After attending your course you will be invited to a second Wellbeing appointment to discuss further learning opportunities. You will be offered the opportunity to attend monthly ‘Top-Up’ workshops, so you can continue to meet up with new friends and learn new skills.
If you would like to have another 5 week course you can enrol on one of our Living Well PLUS courses which cost only £23 for 5 weeks.
If I have a Dorset postcode, can I join a class in Bournemouth or Poole, even if it closer to me than the Dorset courses?
Unfortunately not. We have been awarded funding to deliver two different types of courses in different parts of the county, however you are welcome to access the Living Well PLUS courses in any part of the county.
What happens if my assessment shows I am in need of more support?
We will talk to you about this confidentially and discretely. If you need more intensive support we will make sure you are directed towards that help.
In addition, we are required, as an organisation, to ensure that our Safeguarding policy is followed, especially when we feel there are any risks to you or to others. In these extreme cases, we have a duty to care in order to prevent that harm.
Do I need to talk about my problems in the classroom?
No. This course will give you the opportunity to focus on learning new skills – they provide a therapeutic break from your issues.
What will you do with the information I provide you with?
The information you provide on the assessments will always remain confidential but, as this is a research project, the information given will be shared in the form of monthly reports to our external evaluators.
How can I find out more research pilots in other parts of the country?
