Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools Award programme will give you the core knowledge needed to take the first steps to working in a school. You will learn how to communicate effectively with children, young people and adults. Gain an understanding of how children and young people develop.

During the Supporting Teaching & Learning in Schools course key policies and principles will be covered.

You will be aware of what to do in different situations when working within the school environment. It may also help you secure that all important Teaching Assistant job!

Alternatively, you may already be working or volunteering in a school, in which case our certificate programmes may suit you better. The qualification provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding for those with a role in directly working with children or young people in schools.  It will also provide the opportunity to evidence competence within the role of supporting learning activities within a school.

Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS) – City & Guilds Level 2 Certificate

This course covers all aspects of children’s development and how you can support learning activities within the classroom. You will develop your knowledge and understanding, and also demonstrate your competence in relation to pupil welfare, care, behaviour and learning. 

Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STLS) – City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate

This is a qualification which provides the underpinning knowledge and understanding, for those with a role in directly working with children or young people in schools. It will also provide the opportunity to evidence competence within the role of supporting learning activities within a school.

Specialist Support for Teaching & Learning in Schools – City & Guilds Level 3 Diploma

This course is for those who have already completed the level 3 certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools and covers optional units required to achieve the Specialist diploma.
